Scotch Eggs!

Boiled eggs in the fridge.
For Easter and spring break, my family and I went to Walt Disney World.  It was tons of fun, and while we were there, we ate at the England in Epcot, the Rose and Crown Pub.  It was there that I tried my first scotch egg.  It. Was. Delicious!  And since I have finally gotten my own deep fryer, I am here to share my recipe with you.

I started with soft boiling eggs.  Four eggs in cold water, bring it to a boil, and then let them simmer with a lid on for about 8 minutes.  After, I put them in the fridge to chill.

Behold, the beauty of a peeled egg.

After they've chilled, I made sure to peel those eggs like it's nobody business.  I absolutely hate peeling eggs.  It's like slimy and painful all at once.

Breadcrumbs, Eggwash, and Sausage!

After the egg is peeled, you should get the egg wash ready (I used one egg, and a splash of milk... I don't measure things when cooking, I'm so horrible about it.)  I also got the breadcrumb mixture together.  I used Panko, thyme and parsley.  Again, I don't measure... I just kind of do it until it looks delicious.  Next time, I might try rolling them in flour with my homemade rub, because that stuff goes on everything.
Sausage meaty masterpiece :3

You'll want to wrap the eggs in sausage after that... I found it was easiest just to flatten the sausage (I just use Jimmy Dean's) in my hands, but unfortunately I have small hands and it's not exactly easy to flatten enough for the entire egg.  So I would make two pieces and then try and put them together.  I rounded them out until everything seemed nice and covered.  After you do this, just dunk the meaty mess in the egg wash, then roll it around the Panko mixture.

Ready to fry!

Put the panko coated deliciousness into the deep fryer and let it go.  I found that about 5-8 minutes was needed to cook the sausage all the way through.  It probably doesn't need as much time if you make your sausage thinner, but I thought I had it pretty thin.  Who knows!
mmmm oil

While it's frying, feel free to mix up some mustard sauce.  I use Coleman's Mustard powder with some mayonnaise, lemon juice, Worcester sauce and cayenne pepper.  I personally don't like it, but my dad enjoys it, so I mixed it all together :)
Looks delicious, but I'm not a fan.

After it's all said and done, you should have a delicious fried, crunchy, sausage eggy mess.  It was scrumptious and I highly recommend it!

It's done!
